Angola is a Southern African country sharing borders with Namibia, The Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia. It's western coast lies on the Atlantic Ocean.
Angola achieved independence in 1975, but was locked in an intense civil war until 2002. Since then, its economy has continued to grow at an above average pace. Angola's economy is supported mostly by the country's rich natural resources; in particular oil and diamonds, and it had the world's highest annual average GDP growth for the period of 2001-2010.
Due to what amounts to what was essentially a continual state of conflict since cpr144449003101 the 1960s, the country is still suffering very high poverty rates and social inequality.
