The Federated States of Micronesia is a sovereign island nation comprised of approximately 607 islands over four states. It is located in the Western Pacific Ocean approximately 4000 miles southwest of the Hawaiian Islands. The population is estimated to be approximately 111,000 people and the official language is English, although national and local languages are also spoken throughout the islands.
The economy in Micronesia is largely supported by fishing and subsistence farming.
