.com.sv FAQ

What name can I register?

The sub-domain name must not refer to formal aspects or themes of the country without due authorization.

May not be sub-domain names that may be confused with any official and formal representation of the country.

They should try to avoid unnecessary redundancy in the names of sub-domains, such as the inclusion of the particles "salt", "es", "sv" as part of the name. SV suffix at the end of the name is sufficiently distinctive from the geographical nature of the name and direct link to the name of the country El Salvador.

We recommend use names beginning with a letter and keep a close resemblance to the name, abbreviation or acronym of the applicant.

Names considered offensive or that go against the principles of the Internet will be subject to questioning and discussion with the applicant.

Names that represent a concept on the Internet and / or which may lead to confusion or disorientation on users, such as "Internet", "InterNIC", "IANA", etc. Will not be admitted

The successful record a sub-domain name does not mean to register a trademark. It is required of the applicant to ensure that you are not violating any trademark in the country. If such violation is obvious and evident, SVNet reserves the right to submit for discussion and further investigations such assignment, before carrying it out. In the event of a dispute between applicants for the rights of a particular name, SVNet takes no responsibility to register, and only provide information to both parties, in order that they reach an agreement. This agreement shall be notified in writing to SVNet . Potential conflicts between individuals will be resolved by applying the UDRP Dispute of SVNet.

The .com.sv Registry will not accept the following domain names for registration:

Names that are already registered ("first come, first served" -principle) or cpr144449003101 that are put on hold. A name is put on hold if:

  • Legal proceedings, whether within or outside the scope of a court of law, are in progress over that name, or
  • The .com.sv Registry has asked the domain name holder to replace his registrar in case the registrars contract with the .com.sv Registry is terminated.

Names will be registered for the person whose application is completed first, notwithstanding earlier applications for those names that are not yet complete.

An application is complete when it is received with all the required data by the .com.sv Registry computer system (not when it was sent).

The refusal to register a domain name by the .com.sv Registry does not create any rights (priority rights or other) for the applicant.

The applicant may file a new application, in competition with anybody else, if that name later becomes available to the public.
