Bhutan is a landlocked state in South Asia located at the Eastern end of the Himalayas. It shares borders with India and China. The highly varied landscape ranges from subtropical plains to the sub-alpine Himalayan heights. The population is estimated at approximately 700,000 people, and the official spoken language is Dzongkha.

Bhutan's economy at present is one of the world's smallest, but it has experienced rapid growth in recent years, having the second-fastest growing economy in cpr144449003101 the world in 2007. The economy is largely based on agriculture, forestry, tourism and the sale of hydroelectric power, largely from the Tala Hydroelectricity Project.
